Jean Oelwang, President and Trustee of Virgin Unite, to Speak at We First 2015 Brand Leadership Summit

The annual We First Brand Leadership Summit brings together leading marketers and groundbreaking ideas looking at how brands can innovate the ways we live, work and interact with one another to better our world. This year, Jean Oelwang, CEO of Virgin Unite, will speak at the Summit on how the entrepreneurial foundation of the worldwide Virgin Group aims to do their part to revolutionize the way business, government, and social sectors work together – driving business as a force for good. We are proud to welcome Jean Oelwang to our 2015 Speaker Lineup on October 6-7 at the W Hollywood in Los Angeles.

Virgin Unite was founded in 2004 to bring together all of Virgin’s global communities to bring about positive change. From 50,000 staff members to their inspiring 24902 Community of entrepreneurs and thought leaders – Virgin Unite thrives on passion and ideas. At the heart of their impact is the Virgin Unite 24902 Community, an extraordinary global group of more than 500 entrepreneurs, philanthropists and inspirational leaders from every walk of life. 24902 members, to match the circumference of the planet, are part of a phenomenal network built for inspiration, collaboration and learning. Leadership Gatherings and Connection Trips are an integral part of the program.

Jean has been instrumental in working with Virgin’s businesses and others worldwide to put driving positive change at their core. Over the past 12 years, Jean has worked with partners to create new approaches to social and environmental issues. As CEO, she focuses on three core areas:

  • Global Leadership Initiatives – incubating new approaches to global leadership.
  • Business Innovation – providing support services to businesses to help them innovate by putting people and planet alongside profit in all they do.
  • Community – building a powerful community of people who never accept the unacceptable and who believe in the power of entrepreneurial ideas to change the world.

She has long explored the overlap of business and social sectors, having worked for the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife in Australia, and in numerous volunteer roles, including a stint as a VISTA volunteer where she worked with – and learned from – homeless teens in Chicago. Jean also sits on the Advisory Council for The Elders and the Boards of the Carbon War Room, Ocean Unite, Ocean Elders and Just Capital. She is also a Senior Partner in the B Team.
